The Pitagoras is the main building at the Almería Parque Científico-Tecnológico de Almería (PITA) and it also represents the heart of the entire technopolis. It is a sustainable building that takes maximum advantage of natural light and boasts a class A energy rating.

The Park’s administration is making its facilities available by offering office space and laboratories to any company or entity interested in setting up operations in a strategic and comfortable location, which is more than simply a physical base, the park functions as a Business Cooperation Network, an International Business Centre, and a Community of Companies.

Designed by Ferrer Arquitectos, the buildings were the first to be completed in the park and were sustainably designed to reflect the ideals of the park and the businesses that would work there. The Pitagoras building’s name is an amalgamation of PITA and Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras.

These buildings are laid out according to a strip arrangement, creating an ordered and functional design which sets out clear entrances and highly versatile, multi-purpose spaces.

There is a main communications strip, which is the backbone of the design, created as a glazed area with climbing vegetation and scattered courtyards that provide interesting sequences for the visitor/user.

This linear corridor runs along the top of the roof and has the appearance of a lantern, drawing you in from the outside.

From the inside the views are accentuated with volumes that curt across the building. Each floor contains a meeting room that protrudes out over the landscape, offering views of the bay and the Gata Cape Natural Park.

Both buildings exceed the minimum environmental standards and have been designed to meet energy classification A, as well as the American LEED certification and the European Green Building Certification.

The office units themselves have 20 square metres of floor space, but they can be connected to other modules. The individual unit layout can be modified either by dividing them into two areas, creating one space that is more private, or by connecting several units in order to create a larger, open office space.

The most basic unit available for rent is 20 square metres, but as these areas are versatile and can be modified, an office can be made as large as requested, according to the needs of each company. All common areas have been designed with the objective of creating a comfortable and charming atmosphere.
